With Colorado's liberal smoking laws, that title should get some remarks! I've always enjoyed taking photographs as long as I can remember. I'll date myself some by mentioning my first SLR was a Minolta and I was very familiar with Ektachrome and Kodachrome. After using some very early digital cameras I purchased some Olympus Evolt 4/3 equipment and those two camera bodies gave me good service. Last year we (my wife and I) purchased a Coolpix L840 to use on horseback and I was amazed at the quality of the photos and how much less editing I was doing to the Nikon captured photos. Well I recently started getting the bug for the Nikon quality images but wanted more choices available on exposures. So a new D500 with the 16-80 lens arrived last Friday. Things got off to a rocky start when I entered playback mode and promptly encountered the infamous Lexar UHS-2 card error problem. I discovered this site as I was searching on-line for resolutions for this problem! The second issue was an off brand battery that the D500 doesn't like either. It was so nice to find this site and the info I was searching for! Thank You forum members! DSC_0114.jpgDSC_0122.jpg

Welcome to nikonites.com, Hicountry Rider. Of all of the places I've lived before, I miss Colorado the most! Please post lots of pictures from there! And from what I hear, you've gotten into the better Nikon gear in a great way with the D500!!

Welcome from a fellow Coloradan. I'm also a fellow D500 user. My bet is that you are going to love the D500.

Already I'm enjoying it for sure Woody. I've a lot to learn about the capabilities of the camera and already shopping for a macro lens. At least the relationship between shutter, aperture, and ISO, has remained a constant for the most part. I'm way behind on the computer end of photos so that's coming soon too. Love the info I've found on this site.
