Hello!
First post. I just bought a Nikon D5200 with the kit lens.
I have an old 300mm f4 Nikkor coming, as well as a new 35mm f1.8 for a prime lens.

I'm really excited. I should have done this years ago!

I am 59. Back in high school I had a Minolta SRT101 plus a Vivitar 85-205, as well as a darkroom in the basement with an Omega B22. Good times!

Since going digital many years ago, I have been working with a little pocket camera, a Minolta DiMAGE G400.

I have had a Pbase account for many years, not because I am a serious photographer, but I liked the layout and was willing to pay to host my photos.
tomfarr's Photo Galleries at pbase.com

I'm looking forward to having a place to ask questions!

Howdy and welcome to Nikoites! I'm sure you'll find that D5200 to be addicting, and we'll hopefully be seeing images you captured with it here soon.

Here ya go! My first "official" photo after joining.
This is the view outside my front porch window.
The picture is hosted on my Pbase account, this is the link to see the full resolution (JPEG fine).
I thought the leaves would have been clearer when you zoomed in on the final product. There is a bit of a wind today. (?)
D5200 - 18-55 kit lens - 30mm - 1/125 - f11 - ISO 125
Full auto, no retouching. On a quite marginal tripod (Slik SDV-20!).

Never been this critical before (never been on a camera forum before!). This is new!

After reading so many of the posts here, I am SO GLAD I grew up on film!
I have a good understanding of the relationship between shutter and aperture. And I understand ISO, because we had to decide what ISO we were putting in our camera when we purchased a roll of film!
I was pretty much a Tri-X kind off a guy. I didn't care for the grain, but I couldn't pass up on the lighting flexibility.

Needed a bigger memory card? Bulk film! I can even focus a camera MANUALLY! icon_eek.gif (I can't wait to see how my pentaprism D610 compares to the pentamirror D5200 when it arrives today!)
