Hello: Been lurking here for a bit, long time Pentax user and finally made the jump to the "first team." I really enjoyed Pentax, but wanted to try Nikon or Canon, so here I am.

Just gonna continue to lurk for a bit before asking questions, since probably 99% of the answers are on here........somewhere!!!! Anyway, busy day (like am sure most of you are having this time of the year) but wanted to stop in and say hi.

Really enjoy photography, but kids and paying bills and such always seem to take up most of my time, but over the years have always found it fun to drag my trusty Pentax gear with me and take pics of the kids doing stuff. Here's a pic of one of my (many) amatuer favorites:

My nephew, fall 2013, the 3rd playoff game (they got beat and were knocked out of the playoffs at this game) doing what he did all year......play solid defense. He was all conference and hit like a small freight train, even though he isn't that big. Started his junior and senior years at cornerback. So proud of him and he is off to college (not playing ball) and moving up the ladder of being awesome. Pic was with my Pentax K-30, ISO 12,800 (with lots of post noise reduction, lightroom), Tamron 70-200mm 2.8.

But this pic right here is sooooooo typical of my shots. lol

This is my oldest daughter when she was a sophmore in high school (she is 20 now, in the Navy fixing P3 Orion electronics) doing what she loved, playing soccer. She is a math wizard (got accepted at Michigan Tech but wanted to do the military thing) and was always good at "calculating the angle" for intercepting the ball, and starting on the boys varsity soccer team for 3 years was many of her accomplishments. Personally, I think she just liked being around the boys.

Anyway, this was with my old Pentax K100D (really liked that body) and my cheapo Tamron superzoom. Most of my pics are pretty borderline, but I tried. One of the nicest thing my kid ever said to me was a couple years ago, when we were picking out her pics for the slideshow for her graduation, and out of the blue she said "thank you Daddy for taking alllllllllll of these pics of me growing up." I have to admit, my eyes glassed over a bit.

Last one for now. It seems I've almost dedicated my life to filling hard drives of pics for the girls while they were growing up. After my youngest graduates (she's a junior now), I'll have to branch out into "creative" type photography.

Here's my youngest a couple year's ago when she was a freshman (only freshman to start on the JV squad). She is wicked smart like her older sister and just as polite and well mannered.
