A few months ago I realized important events were coming up and I didn't want to use a plain point n shoot or my iphone and get just snapshots. Remembering how fun high school photo class had been, I had a basic knowledge of photography and thought it might be time to upgrade to a nicer camera. (Plus, now I don't have to buy gallons of fixer or pay for developing film rolls.) I bought a D3100 (with the two kit lenses) with the idea that if I didn't really like it as much as I remembered, I wasn't out tooooo much money and at the least I'd have some good photos of the events. Turns out, its way more fun than I remember..I'm having a terrific time on weekends going out to shoot. I've since upgraded my glass with a Sigma 17-55mm lens which I use almost all the time and borrowed a friends 70-300mm to play with --lots of street photography. I'm looking forward to this forum for suggestions and advice.
