Hi from Lafayette Louisiana

Hi - I'm Dawn from Lafayette, Louisiana...just named the "Happiest Place in America". A little over a year ago I retired. Have one daughter that will graduate May 2015 from college and a son who starts college this fall. As an almost empty nester have more time to devote to one of my favorite hobby's. Have been in love with photography since I received a Pentax 35mm camera for graduation. Over the years I have had several point a shots (after my Pentax didn't work anymore). About 5 years ago I bought my Nikon D5000 and took some classes to learn how to use it. I use Photoshop Elements 12 and Lightroom 5 for editing. Know I still have a lot to learn and love learning how to take better pictures. Wanting to learn to take better pictures of people, pretty good at nature, but people I have more trouble with. Looking forward to getting to know and learn from the people on this forum.

I'm going down there next week to visit a good friend, and take a swamp tour.

If you have never been before you will love it. On swamp tours you can get some beautiful pictures. Have fun while here and make sure get to eat some great Cajun food.

Howdy Dawn and welcome to Nikonites! My wife is from New Orleans with most all of her family still there, so we get through Lafayette pretty regularly.

Since I've also got a D5K (d5300 specifically) and just getting into the Adobe software, I may be hitting you up for some advice soon. Hope to see some pics from you on the site soon!

Love Lafayette! Was fortunate enough to live there for a year, then went to Baton Rouge to go to LSU! Still stop on the way to Tiger games. Have several friends that still live there. Best food and music anywhere! I'd kill to have a shrimp po boy from Old Tyme Grocery right now.
