Coming Back to Photography

Hello everyone,

I've been out for a few years and now I've decided to come back to this wonderful world of photography. My main job as a photographer was food photography. You can see my latest photos here - https://www.flickr.com/photos/sotophotography. I used to have a Canon 5D MKII but this time I'm coming back to Nikon. Before the Canon I used to have a Nikon D200 and a year later the D300 with a few Nikon lenses. My favorite was the Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8... that lens was great. Well this time I'm aiming for the Nikon D800 and the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8. Love the full-frame cameras. The only problem is deciding because I see there is a D800 and a D800E... don't know much about what's the difference so I'll check out on YouTube some reviews. Well I hope soon to be shooting some photos and showing them here in this forum.

Well, if you're looking for keep on making dough by shooting dough, I'd go for the sharpest edge you can get- 800E. If budget isn't as far, perhaps a 610 since it's still a quite capable body and outclasses 5D2 and 3 IMO.

Ironically enough, I've started on the way to food togging thanks to 1 friend who started revamping sites for local restaurants and has been getting me doing some dish re-shoots. Have muuuuuuch to learn despite static food not quite being the most interesting subject for me.

Thanks for the welcomes.... We'll see if I end up paying $500 extra for the E version. I'm going to be shooting food photos most of the time but I also enjoy the landscape photography

I'll also go ahead and plug looking into getting an issue or two of N-Photo since they're a pretty awesome magazine with tons of great ideas, reviews, and usual photographer exposure. Perhaps you could even write to them how you're converting back to Nikon along with some new food shots.

I only just "Discovered" N-Photo - A great magazine. I like the sample RAW images on the CD so you work tutorials etc through.

I was stationed in the Coast Guard in Aguadilla, PR. I was at the old Ramey AFB. Do you know where that is? I loved it there. I want to go back some day.
