Editing and airbrushing isn't a new thing - 1950's pinups (possibly NSFW)
I thought these were interesting pics...

This is how 'editing' was done in 1950. Notice the slimming, removing of articles, and toning that was done by the artists.

Gil Elvgren was pretty good...I have a ton of his stuff (reproduction) but the master of all that pin up/cheesecake/beefcake stuff was Vargas who didn't use a camera! Ironically his father was a pro photographer who started the son off with an airbrush at a young age. Vargas went backwards photography, airbrush retouch, pen and brush/airbrush...

Wow. The first thing that comes to mind...I was a youngster and browsing (aka snooping) through my grandpa's junk drawer one day. Couldn't have been older than 10 or 12. I came across a deck of naughty playing cards that had images just like these.
Someone on here posted some 1950's pinup style shots that were pretty good. Whatever happened to that guy?"You can't depend on your eyes if your imagination is out of focus." - Mark Twain
