I read a lot of photography books but it's rare I find one I feel is worth suggesting. But as I said in a previous post about this same book, it's also an unfortunate rarity I come across a book on photography as good as this one:

Picture Perfect Practice: A Self-Training Guide to Mastering the Challenges of Taking World-Class Photographs by Roberto Valenzuela. I like the book so much I posted a new thread about it a while back.

A #1 Best Seller on Amazon, this book does get some negative reviews because the author is a wedding photographer and as such a lot of the examples used in the book are wedding-based scenarios. I didn't have any problem with looking beyond the subject matter to grasp the broader concepts he was trying to show me, but for some people that appears to be a major issue. What I really like is that he lays out a detailed blueprint for working a shot. This book NOT about gear, he never even touches on the gear he uses to get his shots, he discusses the composition. This book is about the ART of taking better photos by learning to work a shot, not by throwing money at gear.

This book is like no other I've ever read on photography and is absolutely the best, most helpful book on the topic I've yet found.

This author also wrote Picture Perfect Posing: Practicing the Art of Posing for Photographers and Models which looks to be just as good as his other book, though I will admit I've only glanced it over. I'm still reading (and re-reading) Picture Perfect Practice.

I have photography books but I have a short attention span so reading books is hard, I find videos a lot better for me

Thanks for the tip HF!

One thing I noticed: Since I tend to buy my books digitally anymore so that I have more available as I travel, there are huge pricing differences for the two Picture Perfect books depending on where you buy. Amazon is about 1/2 the price of iBooks from Apple. Kind of crazy, but most of my photography books end up being in kindle format for that reason.
