Georgia O'Keefe is famous for painting flowers on a macro level. Here is my purple and yellow orchid taken with my 60mm macro lens and my D7100.

This is another macro shot of an orchid that I grew myself. I like to shoot close ups of flowers. I also like to grow flowers.

Here is another of the macro flower shots. Now I'm getting more inventive than just copying Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings. Flowers are so beautiful that there can be endless macro shots of different flowers. This is a rose petal.

The Primrose are blooming in the Greenhouse. Georgia O'Keefe has a similar painting but she painted Squash Blossoms. I like the Primroses better.

All very nice shots Wendy, but just a word of caution, be careful about over-saturation. Sometimes subtleties are lost when you over saturate and the image becomes shocking instead of pleasing.

Thanks for the advice Marcel, I agree and will watch the saturation.

A macro shot of a wintered over crab apple. I couldn't find anything similar to Georgia O'keefe's work like this, but I am sure that she would approve.

Macro Shot of a White Spring Flower. Georgia used to paint lots of macro pictures of flowers on giant canvas's. I think she would approve of this one. I would like to see this one printed on a large canvas.

White Pansy with yellow and purple. I think that the yellow and purple colors of this pansy look like brush strokes. I'm sure that if Georgia had seen this pansy, she would have painted it to look just like this.

Stunning shots! Make me want to buy a macro lens and try myself.

Do you shot all of them in the garden, or do you have a studio setup with artificial lights and background. I'm particularly interested how you shot the first picture (Calla Lily Turned).

Marek,
Thanks for the compliment. I would advise anyone to purchase a macro lens, my 60mm 1:2.8G macro is my very favorite. My family owns a greenhouse business so I have a perfect access to as many flowers as I want. Some of these shots were taken in the greenhouse light. The "Lily" was done in my home "studio". I have a small place where I set up many of my shots. I used 3 lights, and a white tablecloth for the background. It was a simple set up, but it took me 71 shots to get exactly what I wanted for "The Lily". Last year I had a beautiful garden that was my subject many days during my 365 project. I anticipate that I will plant another garden this year, so follow my threads to see what I decide to plant, and how they turn out.

This teeny, tiny daisy is just 1 cm. I love the detail of the Fibonacci sequence in the middle. Lighting compliments of the sun. :)
