A 50mm Holiday

So, I've decided that over my holiday break I'm going to limit myself to just a 50mm prime on the camera. I'll make exceptions for exceptional situations (i.e. family portrait around the tree or some amazing creature in the back yard), but otherwise if I need to zoom in or out then the legs will be my only option. Sort of looking forward to it.

50 AF D f/1.4 was almost exclusively on my D700 (unless shooting surf)......now my recently acquired Nikkor 28 f/2.8 Ai has not been off since received. I am a big fan of the foot zoom.

My new campaign is not to build a collection of 20 lenses like I have in the past with other systems but to limit the quiver and attempt to truly master them all.....planning one more acquisition and that is it.

I live way up here in the North, where we don't get much sunlight at this time of year. A fast fifty is about the only lens I could use! :welcoming:

Just four more days until the solstice.

Col. Jeff Cooper always said, "Beware the man who only has one gun. He probably knows how to use it!"

I should do the same but know I won't.
Start a thread
"Holiday 50mm project" and for dx users 35mm?
Would be interesting

I cant remember the last time I have taken my 50 f1.8D off my D610. Just a great little gem of a lens. And a decent portrait lens in crop mode. Perfect for my needs when just out walking around.

Good luck on the personal challenge.
