Macro convertors

Kinda different from the previous posts. Canon has a 250D and a 500D macro convertors in a 52mm size. Might be a dumb ? but are these a threaded front like a filter or do you have to have some Canon part to mount these? Thought I would try this instead if buying a macro lens first.

They'll work with any lens as long as the filter diameter is the right size (the 500D also comes in 58mm and 77mm).

Reading about them a little bit, the 500D will be the better choice, since the 250D is a single-element lens. The 500D is more well regarded since it's a double-element lens, similar to Nikon's 4T (which I've used, unlike the 500D). Quality-wise from what I've heard, the 4T and 500D are quite similar, so it comes down to which one you can get for less.

Thanks for the reply. Never thought about it but looked in my old Pentax SLR stuff and found a set of 58mm Magna Close up convertors I had completely forgot about. I'll give them a try and see what develops. I'll also see if a 4T pops up on the radar in my area. I see that Nikon has discontinued them. Thanks Again.
