Opteka Lenses Anyone?

I read a thread about the Opteka 500MM f8 on another site. The lens look very interesting.
The aperture is fixed and it doesn't auto-focus. The design looks more like a telescope than a camera lens.
I'm thinking this is a very specialized lens that needs a light touch and a tripod.
The $109 price makes this lens look mighty interesting. I'm working hard to talk myself into not getting one..

Does anyone have any first person experience, good or bad with any Opteka lenses?

I'm not sure about this since I have never used one but a friend of mine has a 500 mirror lens from a third company and the image quality is not very good. All his pictures made with it are very blurry without much definition. It might be useful as a toy to play with, but if you intend to do serious photography, I'm not so sure this would be a good way to spend your hard earned money.

I don't have any first hand experience with those lenses but I will say that you should fully expect the image quality to be absolutely terrible. The old saying "you get what you pay for" has never been truer when applied to the optical quality of camera lenses.
