My deliveries been "Stolen"

So it looks like my most recent purchase, a used Kenko 1.4X Teleplus Pro 300 has been stolen or is at least lost in transit.
I ordered it last Thursday from London Camera Exchange Lincoln branch and arranged UPS next day delivery (£7) to my local store in Newcastle. I could have ordered it to my own address but as I was likely to be at work I thought it'd be less hassle to just pick it up from the store, I'm regretting that now.

I called in at the shop on Friday but it hadn't arrived and was told it would now come on Monday, so I gave them a call today having heard nothing from them, still no teleconverter. Subsequently the Lincoln store have contacted UPS who have it on record as delivered and signed for by "Sam", no one at the Newcastle store is called Sam. So essentially it looks like someone else has signed for it and half inched it. UPS are going to follow it up and I will find out more tomorrow.

If it has been stolen or gone missing I will get the £56 refunded but it's not like I can just buy a like for like replacement. This is the first used one I've seen and new they are £130+ in most places, or around £90 from one of the China based Ebay sellers. Essentially I am going to be out of pocket because I think this was a good deal, very irritating.

This most likely isn't the store's fault but do you think it's worth asking for store credit or something of the sort?

Seems to me that if you some arrangement at the store to receive it on your behalf they have some accountability. UPS does a good job tracking there stuff. They likely have the location where it was signed for tagged. Seems odd that they would agree to receive it and then act like it is not their problem when it goes missing.

They haven't denied responsibility and have said I would be refunded if it can't be located. I will see what they say tomorrow when UPS have had the opportunity to follow it up. There is another camera store on the same high street but doubtful it has been delivered there by mistake.

Good news! I've just had a voicemail message from the shop telling me UPS have located my package and they are now arranging a driver to collect it and redeliver. I should have it tomorrow, Thursday at the latest. I've got no idea where it actually ended up.
