Hi there,

I have nikon D3100 with basic 18-55 lens and i would like to upgrade with entry level telephoto lens.

I have sort listed 3 three lenses.

1. Tamron AF70-300 F/4-5.6 Di LD macro.

2. Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 55-200MM F/4-5.6 ED VR II

3. Nikon AF-S DX VR zoom-Nilkor 55-200mm F/4-5.6G IF-ED

kindly recommend which one would be best among the above three.

Your help is much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum,

I've had the tamron 70-300mm and the Nikon 55-200, if I had to pick just one, then it would be the Nikon 55-200mm.

How much money would you like to spend,

i got my Sigma APO in part ex on a telescope, its a reasonable lens , and i use it a lot, its a budget lens but does the job.
not knowing were you are, id say look at the 2nd hand stuff at MPB and the likes, but i will say with i rarely go above 200mm on my D5200

I'm going to be "that guy" that tells you to get something not on your list. :) The Nikon 70-300mm VR is a very good lens that you can likely find for around the same price as the lenses you have listed if you are willing to buy used.
