Hi. I am going to get a used D3200. I need a good used lens that costs about $100. Do any of you a good one I can get? I am not an expert. I would prefer one that starts at 18mm. It does not have to go past 100mm.

I got a 18-70mm Nikon for $62 on E-bay it is clean and I love it!! It does not have VR but is very sharp. I know you specified a zoom, but a Nikon 35mm 1.8 is a great lens!

IF you want it to auto-focus be sure it has a motor. Nikon uses AF-S for this. Tamron and Siggy use other terms for their lens internal motors. I've bought a few less expensive zooms and while they work fine on my D610, and work on the D5100 they do not autofocus on the D5xxx or D3xxxx series cameras. IF you are willing to learn to manually focus (and this is not a bad thing) that opens up a whole world of AF-D and older lenses many of which come in at your price range. I bought a Tamron 200-400 for example for $144 US in the states a year or so ago (since traded it on a Nikkor 200-500) but it worked OK on my D610. IF you insist on Autofocus it will narrow down your options considerably.

Much more than new 18-55's do today. I'd guestimate 2-300 range, right?

And awesome to see another 18-70 convert/owner! Back when 18-55's were still dinky gimmicks, this was like a real breath of fresh air for sure, but after they made the II version that didn't have rotating front element and could retract into storage position the playing field leveled out somewhat.
