Minolta A mount to Nikon F?

First off, I bought a Minolta Dynax 404si Film camera from a thrift store for about 5 bucks. It came with an AF 35-80mm f4-5.6 zoom lens. So would this work on my D3200 with an adapter. And if it would, what kind of an adapter should it be? I've heard that Sony Alpha A mount is the same as Minolta A. Is this true?

Could you give me any recommendations on which adapter should I buy, if any?

Thanks.

Just so you are aware... The D3200 doesn't have a focus motor in the body. It relies on the Nikon AF-S lens to have the motor for auto-focusing. You can probably find an adaptor that will physically connect that older lens to the Nikon body, but it won't make an electrical connection, and therefore will only manual focus. The light meter may partially work in that it reads the light thru the lens, but again, it may not automatically adjust the aperture and will require manual adjustments of the aperture.

Good luck...

I have a huge collection of Minolta/Sony A mount glass. I know of no way to adapt A mount to F mount while retaining full functionality and infinity focus.

The 35-80 is a junk kit lens BTW not up to the capabilities of a Nikon 3xxx camera.

sell it on Craigslist for $25 and use the dough towards a good Nikon vr kit lens.

Maybe I'll just keep the camera as a decoration. There's no use to buy an adapter for it, if it doesn't even perform as well as the kit lens.

Thanks Guys.
