Sitting around after thanksgiving dinner and my father in law comes walking out with a Tamron 80-210 adaptall lens. It has the Olympus mount but seems to be in great shape. Just wondering if any of you have a history with this lens and is it worth it to try and find an adapter so it will work on my nikon

Sometimes these oldies can surprise you. Any lens is worth trying out. I have the 75-250 F/3.8-4.5 Adaptall and I enjoy using it. It is actually pretty sharp. Paid less that $20 for it too.

Its a bit hit and miss with older lenses, the adaptall was Tamrons budget range, the SP was there top range,i did have a couple of decent Tamron lenses back in the film days.

Many years ago when i was working as a full time Pro', and still had the darkroom, my T.V engineer turned out his hobby was photography, he used a Minolta and Tamron lenses, and i must admit the results he got were first class, so might be worth a try if you get an adapter to fit the Nikon.
