The new 24-70 looks ... hefty. I'll be curious to see the reviews, but of the three new lenses the only one I'm interested in at this point is the 24mm/1.8.

Wow! I was very interested in the new 24-70 f/2.8 VR... until I saw the price!

I am intrigued by the 200-500 f/5.6 VR, however. The MTF shows good optical performance, and the price isn't bad at all for this focal length range. Should be a nice wildlife lens!

The 200-500mm looks nice. I might kick the Tamron for that one. It would still focus with a TC1.4 attached without too much loss in quality.

I'm going to pre-order mine tomorrow and put the Tamron on sale already. Better sell it now before too many hit the used market here.

Good plan. I'm going to wait for your review of it with the 1.4 before I go about listing the Siggy which I am currently enjoying very much.

The Tamron 150-600mm is the only lens I have that is unreliable. The freezing doesn't happen often but it happened too much for me to think highly of the lens. I doubt there will ever be a solution to the problem.

I'll take the gamble that the 200-500mm won't perform worse.

The sample images from it looked amazing, hopefully the average consumer copy will be able to deliver the results they are showcasing.

Since the Tamron I've had a constant fear of long superzooms needing way too much AF adjust between nearest and farthest zoom lengths. The Sigma had me at hello with that feature (USB dock) alone almost.

If you compare the MTF charts, the Nikon does well. Not the same focal lengths and aperture but it gives an idea.
