Nikon 24-120mm f4 Gold Ring

I recently bought an imported version of Nikon 24-120mm f4 lens. I took it to a rental store to compare with the US model. The Gold ring appears to be a little less bright than the US version.
Does this mean that I got a duplicate/fake version?
Lens performs well; tried outdoors and indoors.
let me know if there is a difference between the gold ring color variations.
thank guys

Rent the US model and do comparison shots with both. I don't think any of us has both models to compare and answer your question.

Don't worry, be happy ;)

Highly unlikely its a fake, nikon sell there cameras and lenses (as do nearly all manufacturers) to official distributors and also wholesalers, if they are handled by a nikon distributer the price goes up to cover things like posh headquarters, technical and sales staff and many other overheads,if they are bought by a wholesaler they are moved onto to gray sellers with just a margin on to cover that and then sold to you with a margin on,it would probably cost more to make a counterfeit than Nikon japan sells them for.
