I am looking for advice.

I was all set looking at the Nikon 24-70 lens... tried it in the shop liked the feel of it on the camera.. but recently I have seen people mentioning the tamron and the sigma versions...
Anyone here had multiple versions of the lens and can offer advice as to which is the best image quality. I only want to do this once,

I had thought about renting all 3, but it was going to cost way too much to do that. and I could only find the nikon and the sigma on rental (at more than £30 a day for each lens, and probably needing it for 2-4 days each... and then HOPING the weather will be similar on all rentals so I can try them in the same conditions...)

Our local camera shop only seems to sell Nikon lenses for my camera, and always steer me towards the nikon version.. I would love to be able to try before I buy, but alas that isnt an option :(

Many thanks in advance
T :)

I have just gone through the same decision making process.

The reviews I read show it to be as good and in many areas actually better than the Nikon.
here is one

https://photographylife.com/reviews/tamron-24-70mm-f2-8

The build quality is good, its lighter, and the sharpness really gives the Nikon a run for its money.

It also comes out ahead of the Nikon on the best lens for the D810 list done by DxO here

Best Zooms on the Nikon D810 - DxOMark

In the end I went for the Tamron a month ago the deciding factor for me was its the only one that has VR.
I am very pleased with it.

I am also undecided as I have heard that the Tamron suffers from focus breathing at 70mm, but will be getting one by July that is for sure.

I have a 14mm, 16-35mm, 50mm, and 85mm, 90mm then my 70-200mm and 150-600mm.

For wedding shooting I would like to use just 24-70 and 70-200 on two cameras. I am also looking at the 14-24 but down the track.
Ah. I have only the 14-24 as a quality lens, and then I bought the 28-300 before I went full frame. I intended to use the 28-300 exclusively for the first year to see where my shooting patterns were, but soon found out that the lens wasnt wide enough. Having bought such a cracking quality lens, I started to see the issues with the 28-300.
I will still use the superzoom if I am limited on weight/travelling light, but I think my next purchase will be a 24-70... I just need to choose which one!

You might want to check out this thread. I am very very pleased with my Tamron lenses. You might also want to look at the results from one of my local pros, Ed Heaton, who is sponsored by Tamron. If you're into landscape you will enjoy his site.
