Most Powerful MACRO Lens in the World?

Hi everyone,

My sons were just curious about this lens that I do use but extremely seldom.

They had not yet seen anything so strange so I thought I would demonstrate
them the potential of what may be the

Most Powerful MACRO Lens in the World!

These photograph were taken at a minimum distance of 1,8 meter from the
subjects and no cropping was applied. I could have gone somewhat closer but
that would have meant some trespassing…

He are the shots I did for them, hand held, at around mid-day:

I checked the EXIF and it seems he has invented a new lens. 1 of a kind

Yeah, staring down the barrel of the .44 mag would tend to closely focus your attention in a big way! :)

The Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum!

Just ask Clint Eastwood!

Kodiak, you're the mastermind of intrigue - I hooked!

Tell us . . . what is the Most Powerful MACRO Lens in the World?

Anyways, am guessing kodiak forgot to name the lens.. or he wanted us to keep us in suspense..
But i still can't understand the crazy EXIF data :p

Are we supposed to guess, or what?

I have the 60mm macro, but have always thought that Nikon's 200mm macro would be fun to use . . . especially since I don't always want to lie down on the ground with all the "creepy crawlies" in the dirt during summer . . . the pitfalls of using the 60mm.

Sorry to have kept you waiting!

Hello everyone,

Well, what I read is a question. What I was hoping for are C & C!

Did you look at the pictures? Olivier did! He saw many things that are not visible
usually under the tab "macro-photography"!

This is rather unusual work in macro, where all are looking for extended DoF!
This, on the contrary, has paper-thin DoF but extra bokeh, ambiance, atmosphere!
No one saw that?

I checked the EXIF and it seems he has invented a new lens. 1 of a kind
I would like to be that clever!
The extracted EXIF can not give a clue. But the pictures…

The Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum! Just ask Clint Eastwood!
I like that one …made my day!

I'm curious to see a photo of the lens.
Legitimate! …and with his "like" expressed some kind of C & C.

I think ya'll are gettin' played...
You not! but all the others… I would never dare…

Anyways, am guessing kodiak forgot to name the lens..
I did not want to play anything! Just hoping for C & C!

Are we supposed to guess, or what?
I had no such plan, milady, but some clever ones could have come up with ideas…

Have you had a look at the pictures? Really?

Well Kodiak.. we did look at the pictures..
hard to miss ;)
and nice pics too!
but your thread title & the bold letters seemed like you wanted to make a point about the best macro lens in the world, so we all would love to know which that is..
you know with all the NAS spreading.. it's feverish :D

Actually with the background compression, the shallow DOF on some of the photos and the bokeh make me think that it's not an actual "macro" lens but a fast telephoto. . . especially since you shot from over 1 meter away. That's why I often use my 200mm f/2.8 as a "pseudo" macro . . . I get nice bokeh with just the right amount of compression.

But, I am done "guessing" . . . I have photos to make . . . and I doubt that I could ever afford or even need this lens, since I'm pretty good at manipulating my equipment to get the shot I want.

Au revoir :)

I looked at each of them again, and I must admit I just don't know enough about photography to spot what your hinting at. I can say I like them, but that is about all. The blur of the background in most of them seems very pronounced though.
