My wife went to work Sunday when the storm just started, she'll probably be there until Wednesday. She's what they call an "essential employee" We have a wood burner that can actually heat the whole house, but we'll shut off the upstairs and live downstairs if the power goes out. We have lots of water, and can melt snow if we need more. Pantry full of food. Contingencies to bring the chicken's and their nesting boxes into the dining room, after we clear out the furniture and put a tarp down. It'll be ugly, but at least they won't die. Plus they give us eggs every day! It's suppose to get down past -24 tonight with windchills around -45. It's already -18 with windchill at -35. We'll be shattering all kinds of records today and tomorrow. All roads are still closed in the county and they won't open them until after the wind dies down, hopefully tomorrow afternoon. They have actually been giving out tickets and arresting people for driving. One lady has already been found frozen to death in her car that got stuck. That happened about 4 miles down the road. This is the bridge in my driveway. We're not going anywhere!
