OK, I have almost 5000 images stored on my X-Press Hi-Speed Portable Drive, just in case I have a problem with my PC or Laptop. I do not leave masses of photos on my laptop in case of theft but I do keep a duplicate set on my PC as well as the portable drive... PLUS, I have all the images backed up to Windows Live (SkyDrive) just to make sure, and I do try to sync them so that the "structures" are maintained. But two days ago disaster struck when my portable drive crashed and I had not carried out a sync for a day or two and I had just prepared a rather complicated Photoshop image for Valentines day! All is not lost ( I hope) as the drive is under warranty and the excellent a FREE "Recuva" seems to be getting access to the image data but is taking days to do so! I am praying that the structures are maintained as it has taken me months to sort the images into year and category!! I now pray that the images are not corrupted when I have recovered them but we shall wait and see. The hardest part is the need to start scanning old images all over again ... the sorting is not so bad I suppose. Anyway, we shall see. So, Piriform Recuva at Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download
