I have a D90 which is in excellent nick with a shutter count of less than 9000. I only use it for general photo taking and occasional wildlife etc. I was wondering if it is worth upgrading to a D7000. I can get a used one in the UK for about £350 (body only). To be honest, I think it might be a waste of money as the results would not really be much better (if at all). I would appreciate any comments though.
I guess a lot depends on what, exactly, you mean by "worth it".
That the D7000 is a significant upgrade in several areas, over your current D90, I don't think is in question because clearly it is. The question is would you appreciate and take advantage of those differences? Based on your few posts here, which admittedly is not a lot to go on, I'm wondering.
My question is, what is it that is motivating you to consider upgrading in the first place? Are you wanting to get more deeply involved in photography, is the D90 not doing it for you any more, are you wanting to upgrade and just looking for the "right" upgrade for you... Something else entirely? I ask because I think the rational for upgrading should determine the upgrade path, bearing in mind the D7000 will take better photos from a purely technical standpoint (better color depth, higher resolution, better contrast) due to it having more recent technology, but it won't make you a better photographer.
