    Historic sites

I am wondering how many of us like to visit historical sites. I enjoy learning about places and people who helped shape our world. So if you have some shots from historic places please share them here with a little info about them. I will start with The Hans Herr house in Lancaster County PA...

    Back from self imposed hiatus

Last year I needed to take a break. I had so much to do in my life I just needed to put photography on the back burner. Besides I just was not feeling creative. To make a long story short ( if you are not interested stop reading here) the last year both my wife and I retired, downsized and got...

For those who live in rural areas you know farm tractors are as important as any other vehicle. These shots are from an antique tractor show but let's see any farm equipment you photograph.

I was informed today that my photo was selected for use in the Member's 1st Federal Credit Union 2017 calendar. It was chosen with 12 others from 1200 entries. As a friend of mine likes to say "You can get sprinkles on your ice cream tonight" .

    Blue Bird of Happiness

Saw this Blue Bird and although I have lots of Blue Bird pics I had to grab the camera and take a shot. Some people say the Blue Bird is a symbol of happiness dating back in many cultures for thousands of years. I just needed a little of that right now. I have not posted much lately as 2015 had...

Just wondered how many of us have a twitter account. I have one for my real business and also post some of my photos there. Short story one of my tweets was picked up today by the Weather Nation (I don't follow them and they don't follow me) and they asked if they could use it for their 3 and...

5 Things We Need to Forget

Came across this post and found it very interesting. It is a short read but there were a couple of things I found very interesting which I highlighted here. I know not everyone will agree with him but he says it so well. https://jaygoodrich.com/things-we-need-to-forget-as-photographers/...

    Alan's Accidental Adventures of 2015

If age has taught me anything it is stop planing and start living. Thus it is with my photography. It is rare that I take the time any more to plan a photo (OK maybe I will sometimes for the 52 challenge) , set up a tripod, wait for just the right lighting etc. and take the shot only to be...

    Alan's 52 in 52 in 15

I'm in with the published list, not in any special order. I reserve the right to change up to 5 of the topics if my Oldtimer's Disease kicks in and I am unable to remember what I was going to shoot that week or I just forget to shoot. I also may not be able to post every week as work and other...

    Never too young to shoot....

Those who have seen some of the posts about my grandson and his photography may know that he started wanting to take pictures about a year ago when he was three. Last Christmas I got him a Playskool camera which he took to like a fish in water. He has been using it all year as well as using his...
