Not impressed with Tamron... Need recommendation for new lens

Recently I had the opportunity to borrow a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II LD Aspherical [IF] and was not impressed by the lack of sharpness when shooting wide open. I could not figure out for the life of me why all of my photos seemed out of focus and then for some reason thought that it might be...

    Almost had an expensive paperweight!

Last week I was looking on Adorama for a 35mm lens. I found one and added it to my cart, but before checking out I decided to continue browsing the used section for something else that I might be able to use. I found an older Nikon 28-85mm AF lens for $15. Their grade for the lens was an A- for...

Lazy wedding photographer, or standard practice?

I've read all of the replies and I will comment on them later today in regards to what I feel... Here is an example of a photo that I took which sort of resembles the type of editing he did vs what i would expect. Here is my original. Here is what his editing looked like. Here is my...

Lazy wedding photographer, or standard practice?

My sister will be getting married in a two months and has already signed a contact with a photographer. I've looked at some of his work online and I (being no expert or professional) feel that his work is on the higher spectrum of average. She recently had her engagement photos taken which he...

Switched from micro four thirds to D7100...

and I'm not regretting it at all! The depth in detail and color is so much better than the last setup I had! The speed of the lenses and shutter are twice as fast and the noise levels seem to be lower at the same levels. Here are some photos I took today while trying to learn the new system.

    Ghost Sunset

I believe they said it was around 3 minutes. I don't remember and I deleted the episode from my DVR. It had something to do with the way that light rays bend around planets and that what we see is really an image that is been refracted due to the earths atmosphere. I may be completely wrong in...

How can I make my d7100 focus in manual mode when shutter is pushed halfway down?

I see where the difference lies when comparing the GX1 to the D7100. The only switch I had on the GX1 lenses (if any) was to turn image stabilization on or off. Their camera's must be set to the AF/MF setting (on the body) which overrides the lens in order to pinpoint your focus. I think that...

    Post your Insect shots

Unfortunately these photos weren't taken with a Nikon... I used a Panasonic GX1 with a 45-200mm lens (which I recently sold).

    New member from Rochester, NY

Hello, I just joined the site to begin doing research on new equipment. I just sold all of my gear I had in order to help pay for some plane tickets to see my 87 year old grandmother in CA. I'm hoping to figure out a way to buy a D7100 before July. I have two weddings in CA which I will be a...
