It looks like a copy to me. If it's well made, then maybe it's a bargain, but there is a lot of research that is probably stolen in these... And then it might be made at the same factory where the true Nikon 900 is made...

Interesting idea!

I have an SB-910 which i love and need some more speedlights to work with it using CLS. I did pick up a used SB-800 there of ebay but am sending it back as it randomly turns itself off and on again at certain times. Also not as nice to use as the SB-910. Probably will end up just getting used SB-900s.

Update - well i bought a TR-985N to try out as i phoned the seller in England and they told me there is a 7 day no problem return policy. I did ask them first if it worked with the Nikon CLS and they said yes. It doesnt! It has repeating flash and supposed to have high speed sync but i only had it working up to 320/1. As for the wireless system it didnt work at all with my D300. So thats going back then.

Have since been in contact with Meike and their MK900 model works with CLS as remote or commander. Looking at the spec along side the SB-900/SB-910 they seem very similar, only function missing is the high speed sync. To be honest that is putting me off a bit as it is something i would use.

Think i'll try and pick up a used SB-900 on ebay and if i want some more speedlights then i may buy the Meike units at they work out about £115 new.

It looks like this one has better possibilities but does not have HSS. Everything else seems to work I did some tests with TTL flash staying at f/5 then progressing 1/20, up to 1/320 (it does sync at 1/320) and photographing an aerosol can which remained at the same brightness as the background got darker using rear curtain flash.

Never used TTL/BL as I used an Olympus with Olympus flash and slow shutter similar principal. I usually shoot manual mode and if shooting outdoors I use a Sekonic 358 to get 30% flash with ambient. The flash goes under different names and I think Voeloon V600 may be similar. It also has a PC sync and will take a Canon 8-AA battery pack.

I was going to pick up an SB700 refurb at Cameta but they have been sold out.

I am very pleased with D7000 and 50mm 1.8d lens. The lens that I had for the Olympus 50mm F/2 was a macro but it did not have limit switch so if it missed focus it went macro and then came back on low contrast subjects. I ended up getting a Sigma 18-50 F/2.8 because of the constant 2.8 and Macro really pleased with that lens.
