Soon I'll be Yongnuo'ing

They're out for delivery, a three strobe 560 setup. Hoping the build quality is as good as I've heard; if it is I'll be adding a couple more. Really looking forward to the on-camera setup (SIX GROUPS!). So nice to see this stuff as affordable as it is these days. Back in my D50/D80 days it was stupid expensive (ended up acquiring a bunch of used sb25,26,28's).

I can tell you from experience, Scott, that the YN560's are great! Want to control them all from your camera? Get the YN560-TX. If you're on Facebook, get hold of a guy called Tim Payne (just Google it) and he can set you up with anything you need related to Yongnuo. :)

So far I've been pleased with the Yongnuo stuff, it's fairly high quality for the price. I've got a 2 x YN568EX setup with YN622N triggers and everything just works like it should, couldn't be happier for the relatively low cost for a HSS OCF setup.

Oh the TX is in there! In fact, the TX is the main reason I chose to go with the 560 series. It has by far the least cluttered/convoluted interface I have seen in a remote flash trigger... plus six groups (while the 560iv have transmitters built in, they only control 3 groups). And BTW, I did order from Tim.

Only reason I added the 622s is because I already had 2 YN568EX's and didn't want to switch everything over to 560s.

Yeah... I considered the 568's, but am not a fan of CLS (seems to do me more harm then good). I could see it if i was covering press events and the like, where there is no time to dial things in, but luckily that's not an issue for me. Given that, and the advantages the 560 series presents to folks wanting to avoid CLS, it was a no brainer.

I love The 560-iii.
Very very good for the money. Build quality is imho as good as my Metz 58. Plastics are tough, take a hit and isn't really heavy.

Most useful is the built in radio slave. Fantastic, Imho.

Maybe suggest to Tim he consider a Google+ presence as well. It is a far more techie clientele, and a bit more civilized.

Not sure if you're aware but Google's shuttering Google+.

Not a fan of fb but given how many are already there, it's a quick tap away from tips and help. Just one of many resources though.

Google+ is irrelevant and I expect it is short lived.

While most facebook groups can be a cluster for sure, those which are well run do very well. I run a few myself and Tim's OCF group is a great resource for sure. He has a few others as well.

HSS was the specific feature (along with TTL, since I had no prior flash experience) that drove me to the 568. That said, I haven't used HSS at all ... so wouldn't say it was the absolute best purchase I've made. ;)

That's what drove me to the 568 + YN622 combo as well. The 560 is such a sweet flash, I can't believe they didn't make it HSS compatible... I'd have been all over it otherwise.

If your happy being on Facebook, that's fine. I am not, due to their policies more so than the crappy user experience.

Crappy user experience compared to what? Google kicks ass in everything internet, except they weren't able to beat facebook at the social media game. I'm a huge Google user, but that's just the truth.

All good. I've got no skin in that game :)

Hey Cowboy... yeah, I've never had a need for it either; plus it seems self defeating. Places where you might want to use it would require very high output, yet you don't have that available.

Anyway... it arrived yesterday afternoon, and though I just had time to play around a bit, it has so far exceeded expectations. Will shoot with them today to see what the color and consistency is.

Pretty much everything. FB's app is garbage from both a technical and privacy standpoint. Google+ works like any Google product/service; mostly perfect. Plus if I decide I don't want to be there anymore, it's a couple of mouse clicks to download my data, and remove my presence.

Try that with FB.
