F4 Most Likely

I have a D7100 and AF-S 70-300VR well i have been offered - basically thrown my way a D4 for next to nothing, i know i can use my 70-300Vr on it, andd i used to love my film cameras as i used to own a few nikons FM nikkormat EL etc, but now wonder what is the cheapest way to shoot film with the F4, then take the film and have processed then for me to convert to digital where i could then mess around with the conversion in DXO and Lightroom?

I dont know if this would be a wast of time and nothing quality wise compared to my d7100 with my lens, but i just wondered as it would be a shame to just keep the F4 as a Book End.

I shoot a F4s... Most all the drug stores still process C-41... They'll also scan and deliver a CD of the images... the problem is... they're scanning for time (fast as they can) and scan at low resolutions... I have my own PlusTec scanner, and scan at 7200dpi... from there, I go straight to Lightroom...

developing is just under $5... and a CD is usually another $4.50+ for right around $10/roll of 36 BimiOnBike.jpg

I don't know... I don't think the film cameras will do anything a digital camera can't do... It's really dependent on what YOU want to do... :)

Just wanted to mess around with the same kind of shots and compare them when they are both digital, kind of like a walk down memory lane but also compared to digital. P.

That's how I started, and was hooked... If you understand the Old Zone System... and liked it, you'll like film better than digital... Film gives you a wider tonal range than digital...IMO...

The biggest part of my photographic life was with film, i have had more makes of different types of SLR film cameras than i care to remember, they were always may favorite but at a time when digital was not even in the imagination of the man drinking a pint who thought of it? i used to have a 210mm zoom lens on my then cough cough - canon and the results and zoom size to me was amazing, i know now i have gotten complacent and take cropping ratios for granted, but thats the nature of my hobby planes flying, and bif.
