Mention Hijacked by the Aussie Smiley

I mentioned Ozarkite in a thread and the Aussie Smiley took over like this: @Ozarkite

Not a big deal, but thought it might be an indication of something awry.

ETA: he's multiplying

0zarkite. That is funny. OZ is a shortcut for a smiley so I doubt we can get around it. You know how those Aussies are

(I used a zero instead of a O)

LOL (a lot) When I first noticed that a few days ago in a reply, I figured the poster was having some fun. I was laying low with it, hoping our Aussie members wouldn't think I was insulting them. Then it was in every reply or mention of Ozarkite and I figured, "What the heck...it's kind of a neat icon, no one has noticed (until now)...so I just laid low. LOL

Hah, that's funny. Normally smilies have something else around them like ::'s. I can change it or just leave it.

On many forums there is a checkbox/option for, "Disable Smileys in This Post" to prevent emoticons from popping up in a post where they are not intended...

Does this version of vB not support that option?

Yep. Sure does. There is an option in the Advance Editor. Lets see if it works. Oz

Well I'll be... I don't know how I missed that. I would have bet you a Dr. Pepper that option wasn't available before now.

*scratches head*

It's been there. I had noticed it before and wondered why one would ever use it. Never had the thought why until your comment triggered the image of it in the dark recesses of my mind.

I agree with the fact that text-triggered smileys should be bracketed in some way, like (smileycodehere) or :smileycodehere:

Otherwise, I'd never be able to discuss the Wizard of Oz anywhere, and I'd have to start referring to Scott as one of the munchkins!
