What could be causing this issue? I havent noticed this error at home (but I hadnt spent too much time here after upgrading)

Maybe it doesn't like the chat box? That's the only thing that loads extra stuff on every page between the regular and contributing members. Honestly, I'd recommend you use Chrome. IE8 is dated, and IE11 is terrible. I wish I could make the site work perfectly in every browser/system, but that's nearly impossible :)

I use chrome at home, but sorry to say work insists we use IE8. Is it possible for me to disable the shoutbox on IE, and then have it available on chrome?

I know it is almost impossible to get the sites to work on all browsers. I had a hell of a time programming my site to "accept" IE when all the other browsers worked OK.

Thanks for all your hard work and Merry Christmas to you

I'd say the biggest issues are, 1. Your browser and 2. Your browser being three release versions behind the current release version.

Let me guess, your *ork computer is locked down by your (probably woefully understaffed) IS department and you have no Admin rights to do installs? If so, I'd suggest investing in a USB thumb drive and running Firefox Portable. Now you can *really* stick it to The Man while slacking off at work.

You GO grrrrl!

I hate IE with a passion, and will only use it if I have to. I did use portable firefox a good few years ago, but I lost the USB stick with it on. I really MUST d/l a new copy before I head back to work in January and start using it again.

Our IT have indeed locked the computers down to almost unusable (I cant stream videos - even the ones that I need for training/ help files), anything that runs flash/java/anything remotely fun is locked, and I darent click on links in posts "just in case" I get the warning web-page come up :(
