I was tearing my hair out yesterday (and I haven't got much left)
I spent good hour trying to find out what was wrong with my system when I finally saw a post from jdeg (admin) saying he was experimenting with a new like system.
Seems like a lot of users have experienced problems with the site over the last few days and surely there must be a way to flag that
there is some background work taking place.
How about some kind of "work in progress" flag at the top of the page next to the main logo to at least give the users notice.
This site is great and the number of users on it around the clock mean that the admins don't get any time to fix or add new features so some real time warnings could be useful.

Did you try clearing your cache?
Sorry about that! I didn't anticipate things taking as long as they did. Next time I'll post something more obvious.
Yes; first thing. What is weird is when I go to the main Forum page, it shows me as not logged in. If I do nothing, but go to the New Post page, it shows me logged on anyway.
I only have the one, FF
I have now tried this in IE on my campus machine -- same thing. Remember Me does not work, log-in takes me to Invalid Call message, and not logging in, but going to the New Post tab then shows me logged in. If I try to initially use the home page search, I get the "You hane to be logged in" message, but am shown as logged. Pretty weird.
I had a different problem that I just fixed after not being able to post for almost two weeks using IE11. Nikonites had somehow been added to IE11's 'Compatibility View Settings' list whatever that is. I blundered in there, deleted the Nikonites listing and viola, all is back to normal.
