cannot upload any pics from my pc

Hi all. I've been trying for two days to upload pics from my pc into either a new thread post or as a reply to another thread. In both cases, the system is not actually uploading my images from my pc.

When I click the add image icon, it does open the search browser and allows me to select an image, as well as select to upload that image. From there ... nothing. It will "pretend" to upload it, but no image ever shows up in the post. I have tried both the basic and flash upload methods.

What's even more odd; is that it did allow an upload to my gallery.


Any advice??? Thanks in advance. Right now I'm stuck editing the pic and emailing it to myself, so I can load it from my phone. Ugh.

Upload to your gallery buddy then use the gallery to post your photos! That is what I do anyway!

You can access you gallery photos by clicking my photo showing in the quick reply. Click on the photo your wanting to post and it will insert it into your post!

Thanks, Bill. That's not working for me either! I can click the "My Photos" tab; it opens a window that shows my gallery; but I can click images to my hearts content without anything happening from there.

Nothing shows up once you close the window? I ask because it looks like nothing is happening until you close the window by the close the window button or the x button on the window.

tested again. nothing at all shows up in the post.

Sorry buddy, I just don't have a clue why it isn't working. I'm use to a tablet, and have just started learning to use an older laptop that was given to me.

Thanks again, Bill. The system is just acting all sorts of weird. Just figured out that I can't even quote a post from the PC. There has to me something in my computer system that's just not jiving with the forum.

Ive gone back and made sure flash and windows has all updates installed. Not sure what else it could be.


Anyone one else have any ideas???

What size are the photos you are trying to upload?

I've tried everything from large files down to 80x80 avatar clips just to see what happens. It will go through the uploading process, then nothing will actually appear in the post.

Also, if I click on the "+Reply to Thread", it just gives me the circling "thinking" icon. I have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to post a reply.

I went to another forum (also vbulletin based) and had no trouble uploading or posting there.

OK!!! So strange. It will not show that the pic is uploaded and will not let me post anything unless I have text added in, but when I posted that last reply, the pictured showed up after I posted.

Oh well. It's odd, but at least I can add a pic!!!

Which browser are you using? Maybe you could try a different one (Chrome or Firefox)... It been know that for some obscure reasons, some people have more problem with one browser or another. Go figure.

Marcel is, I believe, at the heart of the issue. Browsers and browser version variations tend to make this site do wonky things. I use Firefox but had to switch to Chrome for about a month just for this site before a new Firefox update came out and "fixed" whatever "broke". If you're on IE, change - you shouldn't be on that anyway.

I had a similar issue and discovered that when you click on the 'reply to thread' yellow button, you MUST put your cursor inside the 'quick reply' box yourself (it doesn't do it by itself), and then try to upload the picture. As long as you don't forget to place your cursor in the 'qr' box, you should be fine. So simple, but it took me a few tries to figure it out.

Thank you all again for the help! You guys are great. I will try Chrome or FireFox when I get back to work Monday. At least for now it will upload an attachment pic.

Now to learn how to use and save my photos using the free PS2 I have on the office PC now.

I suddenly can't post anything using Microsoft IE here -- no verbiage, no photos. Something has changed in the last several days and it's not my platform. Using Google Chrome for this post on my wife's PC. Swapping browsers to work a specific forum seems an odd solution; the automotive and railroad forums I regularly visit have none of these problems.

As of this afternoon NZ time I am unable to upload any photos to this site. either from my desktop or laptop. everything else is still working fine, has anyone got any ideas?

Interesting. I've not been able to post anything on the forum for nine days, but tonight the text box has reappeared at least. The usual icons are missing that I use to upload photos, but some sort of change has happened.
