Typing grinding to a halt on this site

Reply box or new thread, typing starts dragging and losing characters.
IE11/64 bit
Windows 7 64b
Plenty of ram/video
Tried compatibility view
I'm hoping for an answer besides "Chrome" or "Firefox"
I kind of like IE

I'm not sure I understand...what is it about this site that involves Java and Flash that are working fine on every other site in my browser's existence? Is this site making unreasonable demands of my browser and it's add-ons?

Some versions of Vbulletin don't play well with newer versions of IE. But, I had the same issue when I updated to IE11 and got so disgusted with it I went to Chrome.

It is always a very bad idea to use IE for general-purpose web browsing. If you insist on doing so, then please spare us the complaints about the obvious results; which could end up being much worse than simple performance, rendering or ergonomic issues.

Pay a visit to Microsoft's Windows Update site, and then take a moment to think about the significance of it. IE has the authority to download and install updates to your operating system. It has the authority to alter your operating system. Now, if IE can download and install legitimate updates from Microsoft, what do you suppose it can download and install from less reputable sites that you might visit?

And of course, on top of the gaping security issues, there is that Microsoft has long been trying to force its own “standards” on the WWW, very much in conflict with the established standards used by everyone else, with the result that any web site of any complexity that follows the genuine standards will not work well with IE, and any such web site that works well with IE won't work well with any other browser.

Don't blame Vbulletin. It's IE that refuses to “play nice” with web sites that follow established standards rather than Microsoft's fake “standards”.

I use Chrome exclusively, but this site jumps all over the place when I'm trying to read a specific post. Suddenly I have to scroll up or down to get back to where I was in the beginning. It's annoying.

On the other hand, I know this is a free site, and I am grateful to the people that do the work to keep it operating. This was not intended as a complaint... just an observation.

I thought maybe there was a soloution for ie. There's no need to be pushy or try to paint me into a corner as a complainer.
This is the only site ever to give me a problem. I am no asking anyone to change anything, just looking for a soloution. I'm noticing thatthins startto get ba when it as abut to auto-save.

I have found a setting to go to a standard text box instead of enhanced. It is a site option you can set: Forum Options/General Settings/Message Editor Interface: Standard Interface. This seems to have cleared up the problem as the default is an enhanced interface with more editing options.

Solved! Thanks all who were kind.

This site loads and reacts slowly and erratically on Chrome, FF, and IE on my campus box, which has a T1 connection, since the server upgrades. It is much worse at home on DSL on either Chrome or FF, but I just try to time page loads with bathroom and coffee breaks. It is the only site of the 20+ I use per day that will, while loading, kill my live NPR feed.

My point was they don't mix. Wasn't blaming Vbulletin. I use Vbulletin on another forum I'm part of and find it to be a stable platform.
