Trying to Upload Images - I can't make the file size smaller

I've been trying to upload photos to my gallery, but I can't make the file size any smaller. I know this sounds silly, but the programs I use don't really allow low quality... I use a Mac, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Just about EVERY image-editing software allows you to resize the image (number of pixels). Those that don't aren't worth anything then.

Reduce the number of pixels, and you reduce the amount of data that needs to be saved, and that reduces the file size.

600-1000 pixels along the long edge of the image is good for web viewing.

I had to actually remember how to reduce the resolution. I'm not use to thinking backwards like that. lol Much appreciated!

Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72ppi (Pixels Per Inch)

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.
