Site Displaying Improperly

Screen Shot 2013-12-23 at 6.39.34 AM.jpg

The attached screen shot is how the forum has been displaying for me on my Mac since last evening. I'm using Firefox, but it's not necessarily a Firefox issue because it displays fine with FF on my desktop. It also appears fine with Chrome on the Mac.

I've reloaded, cleared cache, rebooted and every other site appears fine, but not Nikonites. Any suggestions?

Hi Jake, I remember getting this setting too but can't for now remember how I got out of it. I'm not sure, but if you scroll down there might be an option that says "go to full site" or something like it. Jdeg probably could direct you to the real way, but I thought I'd tell you it's probably a setting bug of some kind. Hope it cures itself soon for you.

Yes, me too.
There must be some issue with the server cos from last night i've not been able to access the site at all..
It used to show as Internal Server Error.

The above screen shot situation happens when there isn't sufficient bandwidth, at times at either the users end or the server end.

I wish bandwidth alone was the issue, but it's simultaneously displaying properly for me on one computer and not on the other. It's as if it's using a mobile skin of sorts but at the bottom of the page it shows that I have Full Site selected, and it does nothing when I go to Mobile Skin.

I've had this happen on Yahoo at times, but clearing cache and restarting the browser almost always cleared it up for me.

Yep..
It almost always happens with Firefox.
At the same time when FF is having issues, opening with Safari would open the site correctly.. almost at all times.
Restarting FF, or the router sets things straight.
Haven't actually been able to point it to one trigger

Also- with IE11, "auto-upgraded" - keystrokes are dropped unless type very slowly. The Windows Paste-Buffer is not working.

Oh btw, after I did click on your link it would not complete my post until I closed the tab on the browser and started fresh. I'm posting on my PC since it's a royal PITA to try and navigate on the Mac.

I still am having speed issues and "connecting to site" taking forever. I have a new modem and other sites are working well. Something isn't right about this sites system or whatever.

I've tried everything with my Mac and Firefox, including reinstalling it from scratch, clearing all cache, cookies and even history, and I'm still stuck with the view above. To call it infuriating is putting it mildly. This is one of the few places I pop into, and I do it on my Mac 95% of the time. I'm only on my PC first thing in the morning, though moreso over the last day trying to resolve this.

I really only use chrome on my Mac. I presume you have the latest FF and all its updates?

Try this:

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Been there, done that. Went back and did it again. Visited it a third time. All the same.

Have you tried this?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems

How do I reset Firefox to its default state?

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button, go over to the Help sub-menu
    and select Troubleshooting Information.

  2. Click the Reset Firefox… button in the upper-right corner of the Troubleshooting Information page.

  3. To continue, click Reset Firefox in the confirmation window that opens.
  4. Firefox will close and be reset. When it's done, a window will list the information that was imported. Click Finish and Firefox will open.

Extensions can sometimes be the cause of problems. If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode, then you can disable your extensions one-by-one until you find out which one is causing the problem. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems

If the first option doesn't work try the bottom one
Your Firefox settings and info are kept in a folder separate from the Firefox program, called your profile folder. Try creating a test profile, to see if the problem still occurs. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

Didn't want to have to try this, but I was tired of using Safari just for this forum. Seems to have fixed this site. Now I need to see what exactly it "broke". It did strip off all my add-ons, which weren't that plentiful, but very useful (FxIF, Downloadhelper, AdBlockerPlus, etc.).

Thanks... I think. ;)
