Just curios, does anyone know if the MB-D80 battery grip will fit on the D90,
Or would you have to get one especially for the D90?

I have the MB-D80 grip for my D90. Works great. Be sure to use Nikon batteries in it. It's been reported that aftermarket batteries will not make the change over when the battery on the right side dies. The unit uses the right side battery first. When it reaches a point where it will not operate the camera the camera changes over to the left side. The battery charge indicator on the info LCD will continue to show a full charge until the left hand battery reaches about 50%.

Thanks thats good to know. I guess if one upgrades from a D80 to a D90, you can continue to use your battery grip.

I have the D90 / MB-D80 combination and I recently bought a Digipower En-El3e battery from Best Buy - the camera recognizes the battery without any problems and switches over once my original Nikon battery dies.

As stated the MB-D80 will work with both the D80 and D90 but the rumor mill has it that the D95 (D90 replacement) will have a totally new battery grip so it would seem the dimensions of the replacement will be different. Gotta love the rumors.....

Well the reason I originally asked in the first place, was because I was thinking of buying a D90. I have a D80 with a battery grip and I wondered if the grip I had would fit.
However I ended up buying a D200 with a grip, problem solved…lol.
Thank you all for the advice, though :).
