    Memory card strange problem

I have a Transcend 4GB SD memory card.

My laptop cannot "see" it and asks for a format.

The camera operates fine with the card. I connected the camera to the laptop, and copied my images to the laptop.

I then formatted the card in the camera, everything OK.

The laptop still cannot see it, and is also unable to format it.

I also have a Sandisk eXtreme SD card that operates fine on both the laptop and the camera.

    Any ideas?

    Re: Memory card strange problem

It could be a number of things, starting with dirty contacts in your laptop reader. However, since your Sandisk card reads OK in the laptop, I'm inclined to think that it's your Transcend card that's faulty. Personally, I never use Transcend cards...just Sandisk and Kingston. Try cleaning the contacts on the card and see if that works. If not, then it's a bad card.

Thanks fotojack for the interest. The solution was provided to me by a fellow member of the Greek photographic forum.

I deleted and reinstalled the laptops card driver from HP. All is OK now.
