D90 sensor location

FYI, it is a simple vibration of the low pass filter, but its effectivity has a lot to do with camera orientation. Point the camera lens down when turning it on or off to allow gravity to help with the process.

Where is it in the camera menu or where is it physically in the camera? Look in the setup menu and it's the third option down. Setup menu is the one that looks like a wrench to the left of the screen. When hitting the menu button, the symbols on the left open up different menu's, it's the fourth one down. As far as where it is in the camera. Haven't the slightest.

The option to have the sensor self-clean on start-up/shutdown is in the "Setup" menu: Clean Image Sensor.

As for the physical location the best I can tell you is the operation appears to be performed by a small metallic frame sort of thing that surrounds the low pass optical filter (which lies on top of the actual sensor). When cleaning, this metal frame vibrates diagonally for about three seconds. If you hold the camera body up to your ear you can hear a high-pitched noise coming out of the body until the end of the cleaning cycle.
