Error numbers are usually very well explained in the user manual. If you bought the camera pre-owned and don't have the original manual, it's available in electronic format on Nikon's website.

If your using an older AF FX lens be sure to adjust your lens to the lowest f stop(highest number). Without checking it out it's hard for me to suggest a solution. I also don't know about error message codes with numbers for that model. Mine never gave me those, when I had my D90.

E5 or E7 is not an Error Message, not listed with D90 Error Messages in D90 manual page 255-256.

Can you be more specific about what you see?

The r7 or r17 is NOT an error. It is simply the normal display of memory buffer capacity (how many images it can hold before written to memory card, which depends of file size selected). See D90 manual page 65. NOT AN ERROR.

The blinking ? is an error symbol on some camera models, but the D90 Error list (page 255-256) does not mention it.

I do not recognize "ISO screen". I assume you mean the top LCD (near shutter button), called Control Panel in manual. I may be missing it, but the diagram on page 7 does not appear to show any possible ? symbol? On that page page 7 diagram, which number points to what you see?

" ? " is me querying error, yep top lcd screen. And yes I think you are right about buffering I have been "playing with different settings so this could account for what I thought was error messages ...... as I had'nt noticed before and also I have put in a smaller capacity memory card ( 8gb ) I have been using a 64gb card up until now.
As I have'nt had camera that long I thought it may be faulty.Thankyou for putting me right,by the way this is an excellent site. ( I'm an Olympus convert ). cheers mate.
