Need help with my D90

 Ok so I have had my D90 now for about three days having recently been a canon shooter. I have been having some problems with noise with anything over 500 iso. I turned on the high iso noise reduction to normal and same thing. As a last resort I changed the high iso noise reduction to high and get the same amount of noise. Please let me know if there are any known tips/tricks, good noise reduction software, or if I should have my D90 looked at...

Could you post a photo or two with the noise problem and include the exif data? That may help in diagnosing the problem

As Mark suggested post a shot that has the objectionable noise so we can look at it. We need the EXIF data as well. Noise will become very obvious in areas that are out of focus. Background Bokeh is the most common condition. This is a common digital condition regardless of the camera you are shooting with.

The D90 will shoot noise free up to around ISO 1000. At ISO 1250 I don't find the noise to be objectionable. After that noise will start to become visible and will be very pronounced at ISO 3200. Noise reduction programs help out a lot.

I find the same with my D90, even with longer exposures in low light.

Neat Image and Picture Cooler are two others. I have done the trials and they are all effective, lightroom 3 is also very effective in cleaning up pics. It kinda boils down to interface preference, which is easiest for a user to use.

I downloaded a trial of Noise Ninja to play with. I would prefer to use LR3 if I can figure out how to do it in there - don't use CS5 much unless I have to. I know how to do more in LR3.
