Re: Defective 810!!!

Of course...I've tried virtually everything...different cards etc...it's not my 1st rodeo.....camera is producing raw files that are twice the size they should be, but are showing 0x0 dimension size....both lightroom, photoshop and nikon software are failing to read these files...Back it goes!!

Sorry to hear that. That's what I am afraid of when you become one of the early adapters. I hope Nikon finds a solution to the problem.

It seems hard to imagine the problem is the camera. The camera shows you the uncorrupted file on the rear LCD, right?
It seems easy to imagine it is the card, or the reader. Have you tried a different reader?

I don't use a reader...I go straight to my new Mac via USB..And I've tried several different cards and brands of cards...Not the card...And why is it showing a RAW file size of 79mg and a image dimension of 0x0??? I'm pretty sure a RAW file should be approx half of that...I lost a whole shoot..Very upset...oluld this be a software issue?? I can't use lightroom or photoshop...I tried opening the files in both and both rejected it with a unknown file type/corruption msg..

Browncoat...Thanks for that link...It's looking more and more like an Adobe thing...Maybe I should hold off sending this camera back...During my shoot everything did look fine...until I got home to download the files..

As much as it is a bugger to have this kind of problem happen, I wouldn't give up so soon. There might be a solution even if it's not available right at this moment.
I would definitively get a card reader and copy the files on a portable hard disk. This would be my first step.
Then I'd download the newest Camera Raw converter and convert all the files to DNG. I strongly suspect that Lightroom would then be able to open the files.
Good luck. But Don't erase the cards before copying the files to a mother media.

I have a few other programs that show the file...but at a very tiny size....It concerns me that the file size is so weirdly large and the size is tiny...0x0...

I tried but Lightroom although tried to recognize it, it showed it as a tiny size picture....something is really off....It's a shame as I really was enjoying the camera while shooting, until I found out I had no way to use the files!!

you could try this link. There seems to be some system that won't support this new update.

The Adobe problem is just that you have to wait until Adobe updates their software to recognize the new camera model. It has nothing to do with your other "corruption" problem. For Raw files, it is routine that ANY new model camera has to wait for Adobe to add the model and update their software. It normally does not take very long.

Here is Adobes list of supported cameras. D810 is not yet on that list. Hang on.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras

However, here is an article that says ACR 8.6 now does the D810.
http://www.imaging-resource.com/new...onverter-with-nikon-d810-panasonic-gh4-and-fz

I think that is a beta Release Candidate, not actually released yet. But I think you will need that to actually use any Raw files.

So no card reader, copying direct from the camera USB. What software do you use to do that? Some Nikon reader? (there are known problems for last several new Nikon models. See this: http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/fix_corrupted_nef.html).
Or just using the Mac drag and drop routines?

My point is, you can see your images OK on the camera rear LCD. So the camera and the card are doing their job.

You just cannot accomplish the file transfer. Unless all the other D810 owners are reporting the same problem, I think that is not likely, and I still think that it is only your local problem. Try some different procedures.

That file is for Photoshop CS6..I'm running the CC version, but I think I still have CS6 somewhere but would that help the Lightroom issue? That is more important as I have my entire library of work there...And thanks so much for the help all, I was kinda freakin out but now it seems like it might be a temp Adobe thing and not a Camera thing...I hope!!

Have you tried the Nikon ND-X software that you got with your D810? You could easily get TIFF files out of it.
Let us know how things turn out, as freaky as they seem now. That is one thing I wish Nikon would stop doing if they only could use a standard coding for all their NEF files forgetting about camera models. Would it be so hard to just have a standard converter...
