MB-D12 Battery Problem

I have attached a MB-D12 grip to my D800. While connecting the grip the light on the back of the camera flashes to indicate that the grip has been connected.
When the camera is turned on I go to set up menu, battery info and it shows the MB-D12 grip connected but it shows no information on the batteries that I have inside the grip.
When I press the shutter release or af-on button on the MB-D12 the camera auto focuses and shoots the picture the way is designed to do. How ever, when I view the pictures on the camera LCD the joystick on the back of the grip does not work.
In other words my grip is being detected by the camera, and two out of three buttons work...but my batteries do not work. The small display o the upper right side of the camera (control panel) where battery life is shown does not show the bp symbol for battery pack or grip being connected.
For battery use sequence I have use MB-D12 battery first. I'm using 8 double AA's fully charge Eneloop-pro batteries.
Have any one encounter this type of issues? and what was your fix? Thanks everyone for the help.

I never had those issues with mine, though I use D4 batteries now in it. But it sounds like a bad connection between the grip and camera if it is an OEM grip. A third party grip might be the same issue of connection or defects. But I'm just guessing. Might try cleaning the contacts on camera and grip.

Hope that helps. :)

OEM grip, but out of warranty....I cleaned the contacts and blew a little be of compressed air....I order a new ENL15 battery to use instead of the AA, but I doubt that's the problem. Whats weird is the the shutter release works and the af-on works....meaning there is some date transferred from the grip to the cam but no power.

We're you able to clean the contacts inside the grip? That might cause at least some of the issues. Sorry, but maybe it just needs fixed, inside the grip.
