Double carry recommendations needed!

OK so when carrying the D800 and the D700 using the black rapid double harness for walk around shooting, what would you recommend in camera positions, and lens choice for each camera? I have a Rokinon 14 mm that is my widest lens but it's manual focus, and the I have 20,24,28,35,50,105 mm Nikkor af-d prime lenses and the 80-400mm zoom that is also af-d lens! I also have a Tamron zoom 35-300mm I think, though I'm not positive since I haven't really used it since I bought it from my buddy @Eduard a short time back!

Anyway, what side would you put each Nikon and what lens would you put on each to take advantage of their best features? Landscapes, flowers, maybe squirrels or even the lake and such that I might run across during a walk will be my subjects! I will likely really wish I had a filter or two to capture shots of the lake when I get around to it, but as of yet I don't have any of those type of filters so far. Just for reference here is a shot from the listing of my harness that hasn't arrived yet! :)

I've just come to think that I should limit each walk to 1 or 2 subject types to accommodate the prime lenses I have instead of zooms! I don't think 2 of my lenses will work very well for too many different types of subjects!
I don't want to change lenses during the walks, and I'm not adding more lenses to my collection at this time!

I have tree lens so far for my walk around My 16-85 = 24 -127.5, the 55 -300 = 82.5 - 450, and the 10-20 = 15 -30.

That gives me everything I need.

I never carry two cams at once but if, I'd carry the action cam at the right since I'm right handed and can shoot most lenses single-handed if really needed. The landscape cam I'd have left since you got all the time in the world when it comes to shooting landscape. That's why I have it in my backpack during the rare occasions I have two cams on me.

I have the 14mm too but usually have the 24mm on cam when doing landscape. 14mm is too wide for many shots and 35 too narrow. 24mm is, for me, the best compromise when carrying primes. If I take a zoom it's my 18-35mm.

My experience and way of working dictates if i had the 80-400 on it would be on my left side,i am right handed so can grab the camera and lens with my left hand bring it to my eye and operate it with my right hand, also i never carry the tamron set to 600mm i go for about 400mm then can focus and if needed zoom either way quickly.

Pretty much dictates itself. If you want some fast focus shots like the squirrels, then the faster cam on the side where you can bring it to the eye fastest.

I do the exact opposite. Since I already have the finger on the trigger and my thumb on the shutter scroll when grabbing it with my right hand, for me it is much faster than grabbing left first. If I do left first, I have to do two movements before I can shoot since left is only lens support and focus change.

So are you bringing the camera and 150-600 up into the eye level position just by holding the camera and then bringing the left hand in to support it,thus letting the lens mount take the strain of the tamron.

Yep. I carry the cam with a wrist band, have it dangle on three fingers and keep the index on the trigger and the thumb at the back. The Tam isn't a heavy lens and the lens mounts are supposed to handle a lot more weight.

Hmmmm I tend to carry my 80-400 on my left side, since it's easier for me to control it and to bring it up level. Though I'm hoping that the double harness will be more comfortable in how it hangs and pulls on the strap. The strap I have been using was a strap that hung on the right, and it didn't feel as comfortable when turned around to hang on the left. Lol :)

The Black rapid sport is handed,i had to buy a left hand strap.

I don't walk around with 2 cameras. I do however drive around with them when Mrs Blacktop is not in the car. She doesn't know I have 2 cameras, you see.

Here an even better scenario for you Bill.
Do you use a backpack when you go out, or are you limited to just a harness?
If you use a backpack... Just get BlackRapid's backpack strap, and hook it up so it lays onto your chest. Then use their Sport normally, that is after you get the correct one for you.

Thanks buddy, but I don't carry my backpacks, but just use them for storage and protection of my photo gear. So the double harness is NY way of having 2 lenses available without changing lenses in the field. :)
For car trips to photo sites, I may take a pack and change lenses in the car as needed! :)

I usually use a large heavy lens. I use the lens handle to bring the camera up to eye level so as not to put strain on the contacts. The easiest way is to do this is have the lens on my left side. Hence, i now wear my BlackRapid backwards. Still works the same. Also, as i wear it on the left i don't accidentally move the switches on the lens

Does the BR attach to the tripod collar rather than the camera body then?

I have several boss tails, so I can attach to the tripod mount on the battery grip, the strap mount on the camera or even a tripod mount on the lens if it has one! :)
I also have Joby safety cords to use as secondary attachments in case the first fails for any reason! :)
