Hi all,
I just got a second hand camera to test it.
1. Is it possible to check when it was the last date when the last click was done or camera just keeps the number of clicks?
2. What elements to check in the camera to make sure it works?

Thanks
Regards
Alex

This article might give you some help on what to check. It tells about software you can install on a laptop that will allow you to see the shutter count without going online. Alternatively, if this is being sold through a private seller, take your own memory card to capture a few images then go home (without buying the camera) to check them out.

You cannot check actual clicks in the camera, but it's in the metadata and Nikon has a policy of never resetting it, even when the shutter is replaced. You do not have to upload a photo if you have Photoshop or any other tool that displays full metadata. In Ps open the image and then choose File->File Info. In the Raw Data tab will be a row with Image Number. The number next to that is your total number of clicks.

I second Hark's article on what to check. Suffice it to say that the cleaner the camera, the less I'd worry about clicks. A well cared for machine will long outlast an abused one almost every time.

Also check the shot register which goes to 9999 if the shot register is more than the shutter actuations somebody has turned back the shutter count ..bit like the speedo on a car.
