Well on Sunday My D7100 and Sigma 150-500 went for an unexpected test.My friend and I went looking for Birds and Deer at our local Conservation area 0% chance of rain said the weather network(never trust a weatherman). So we did find a nice Buck then proceeded to the far end of the park on Lake Ontario. Walking to the creek mouth I turned around and it was extremely Dark sky's to the west of us and coming fast. so we backtracked fast but not fast enough. About 45 mins left to get to the parking lot the sky's opened up I've only seen that much rain come down in Cuba and Florida. Within a min the water on the trail was over my shoes and all we had to cover the cameras and lenses was our T-Shirts.
I shut mine off right away and shortened the lens to 150mm. When we finally made it back to the Trucks we were drenched cameras and lenses were wet. I had a sweat shirt in the truck and dried of the outside of both camera and lens quick see ya to Andrew and I was gone home.
I got home and towel dried the camera and lens again then took the lens off to see if water made it into the lens all was dry :encouragement: so I took the battery out and opened all the compartments for the electronic plug ins. no water :encouragement: Then I took my clothes off had a shower and hung my pants and T-shirt over the front bench we have on outside at the entrance to the house.
I still wanted to just leave them both alone but not packed into a bag so I left them to air dry.(not sure if they slept well with no plush bed to sleep in :D) tested them both yesterday when I got home from work both worked as they should :encouragement: But I still felt like something could happen, So I left them to air dry one more night (still no plush bed for them)
When i got home today I tried them out again and YAHOO all is good :encouragement:

So from now on I'll carry a small weatherproof cover for the Pair I just happen to have on it came with my Camera Bag :D that will fit in my back pocket of my jeans

Glad all came out good. The D7100 is weather resistant just like the D750 is But I guess you are as old school as I am and ust do not like getting your gear soaked. I was at a ball game on Friday night and it rained. I put my poncho on and the camera was under the poncho with me till the rain stopped. I came home and ordered a raincoat for my camera just is case. It came today and so far it looks pretty good. Next time I get caught our in the rain I will be prepared. I still don't like to be out in the rain because it gets my hair wet.

Hey Don yea I know it weather sealed but i still don't want to test how good it is especially with a non weather sealed Sigma 150-500 :D

I got caught out in the rain last June, and since then, I carry a folded contractor's garbage bag with me.

I have one of those disposable ponchos that folds to a tiny package that I keep in my camera bag but I wanted something that would allow me to continue shooting when it was just sprinkling or something important was going on that I absolutely have to shoot.

I'm waiting for a review on this item from you, Don.
