Actuation count?

Using my metadata reader software, I see it in the metadata. "Total Shutter Releases : 4620"

I wonder if that field stays accurate after it rolls over past 9999?

When I got to 9999 the camera file system started back to 0000, but just checked the shutter count (using the above website) and the count is on 12464.

so it will reset the file numbering, but not the shutter count.

Cool! Good to know, thanks Paul. I just used a free metadata viewer that I pulled down some years back, called GexifView, but it doesn't look like it's available anymore for download. But, there are other free metadata viewing programs out there, if you get tired of uploading your photos... This one handles NEF files too...

My camera hasn't rolled over yet, so I was thinking that the shutter count should be pretty close to the file number on my last photo. But, my shutter is 4621 and my last file number is 4626. So, I must have done something (like metering) 5 times that didn't fire or increment the shutter... I guess... I think the manual says something about that...

Seems like Nikon ought to put the shutter count in the menu somewhere.
