Yes.Ok so you buy the grip and put it on, but in order to have and use both batteries, then you need to take the grip off to charge the battery in the camera, is this right?
No.Is there a way to charge the battery in the camera?
I do this frequently. An idea, leave the battery out of the camera, and just use the battery in the grip, then just swap it when needed, that way you could leave the grip on all of the time.
I do this frequently.
I also have the settings adjusted to use the battery in the grip before going to the battery in the camera body. Then I typically switch only the battery in the grip when needed, while the battery in the camera body serves as an, "Oh S--t!" backup.
.....
Pretty sure all those camera bodies use the EN-EL15 battery so yes; they should all be interchangeable. This is what I do except my grip battery is a D4 battery! I wonder if the D7100 has a similar option as my D800E, to use the D4 battery? That could be a big advantage!

Where in the settings do you make the change regarding the battery grip use of battery? Thank you? I have had the camera stop functioning till I removed the grip.
