Cleaning sensor

I need to clean the sensor on my D7100, any one know what size of swabs i need to order as they come in different widths?

You need Type 2 Swabs if you want to do a wet cleaning.

Visible Dust calls them 1.6x swabs.

Not really. Just make sure it's designed for a sensor. Don't use lens cleaners and such.

Was just checking before i click buy, some manufacturers claim that cameras like the D7100 need special swabs because they have no optical low pass filter?

Have you done a ultrasonic clean yet? Usually that and a puff of air from a rocket blower will do the trick.

I use Eclipse on my D7100 (have for ages) as well as my D750 which has had the OLPF removed. Neither of them need "special" swabs.

If you just have run of the mill dust and blowing it off with a rocket blower does not work you might want to try this first Amazon.com : Sensor Gel Stick : Camera & Photo easy to use and they do work. I have been using mine for a while.

Are you sure they aren't referring to size? (i.e., the D7100 has a DX sensor).

I use the same fluid on my D600s as I do my D7100. I just use different-sized swabs

I believe the swab size for the D7100 is 16mm, wonder why there is such a big difference in price from on brand to the other?

For the first time ever I finally have something on my sensor that the Gel Stick sill not get off so it looks like I am going to have to break down and wet clean my sensor.

Lucky it is small and not in a normal sky area so I am not in a big hurry. I had to shoot sky at f22 to even see it.
