ISO Button

Being 1 week new to the D7100 I was wondering if I could assign a different button to set ISO.

It seems a pain to have to remove my left hand from holding the lens in order to press the current button.

I use the AE-L/AF-L button for back button focusing so thought I could use the Fn button. I will check my manual but would be interested to see if anyone else has made changes and if so what?

I don't know what buttons the D7100 got but I used the Fn button on the D3300 for ISO. Easy access with my lens-hand and I could turn the wheel with my other thumb.

I just checked the manual and i dont think you can assign the iso to anything other than the normal buttons, it doesnt show it in the fn button menus or the dof button, so i am not sure what you can do?

Can't seem to be able to do it. But no prob I am in auto most of the time.
Thanks everyone. J-see the Fn button on the D7100 is at the front of the camera at the bottom of the lens (on the side of and under the shutter button) not next to the flash. So it is different to the D3300

i have a d7100 and i use easy iso , i assignt it to the back scroll wheel , i use aperture priority and use the front dial to change aperture , rear dial for iso and keep and eye on shutter speed to focal distance , if you need fast or slow shutters you can manipulate iso and aperture to get what you need

i was the same , very frustrated having to look for the iso button and change it ,using the rear dial you can use it while looking through the viewfinder easily , you wont regret trying it

Interesting - what happens if you change to Shutter or manual priority? The rear dial is usually for shutter.

Just interested to know though as I will stay in Auto ISO

I don't find it a problem. I just lower the camera, push the button with left thumb while holding camera in both hands and turn the dial with right thumb while looking at the top display to get ISO at setting I want. Do you want to do it while looking thru the eyepiece?

Change it a few thousand times and you'll wonder why you were fussed :D

Where is it on the D7100? On my D800 it is on the top left of my camera, on my D600 it is on the Back left of my camera. Even then I have no issues in where it lies lol. On my D800 I use Auto ISO 50% and Manual 50% same with the D600... If I was you I would try and get used to it where it is and save the FN button for something else later down the track. ;)

Its second from the bottom on the left of the live view screen. If you want to change on the fly you have to feel for it.
No big deal.
I am just reading and studying the manual and wanted to know if it could be changed

The most annoying part of those back-buttons next to the LCD is that they switch the LCD on too. I disliked it for night shots since it kills your night vision instantly. Not to mention that once it is on, my nose tends to flip through the menus.

You wait until you come out night shooting with me, I tend to use feel for everything and no light/torch :) but am thinking of getting a red headlamp for such occasions.

Exactly. Just keep practicing changing the ISO until it becomes second nature. Soon you'll be able to operate that Primal Beast in pitch black.;)
